I believe in buying quality, quality lasts and you should be pleased with the result.

If you, like me, don’t mind paying a bit extra for something Selfridges calls “The Ultimate Pan for everyday cooking”

Le Crueste says the ultimtate in frying pans

I bought this frying pan in 2011 after getting a new induction hob, and for the first few months I was really pleased with it, however 18 month later, it became less non stick, so for a while I decided not to use it.

But after a while I thought “this cost me £65, I should see how good Le Crueset warentee is”. Turns out to be exctly what I expected…valueless.

On the box the product was purchased in, it doesn’t say “do not cook with this frying pan” it also doesn’t say “don’t use on hot surfaces”, it does say Lifetime warentee.

It also says things like:

  • Ultimate pan for everyday cooking
  • can be used on any heat source
  • commercial grade triple-layer construction
  • ensures compatibility with all cooktops

So does the Le Crueset website. This is what the website says…

Cooking with Tri-Ply Stainless Steel

Le Creuset Tri-Ply Stainless Steel cookware features a commercial grade triple-layer construction – a full aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of premium-quality stainless steel. The heat-responsive aluminum core extends up the sides of the pan to provide even heat distribution and to eliminate scorching and hot spots. A magnetized stainless steel exterior ensures compatibility with all cooktops, including induction. Uncoated cookware is oven-proof to 425°F / 220°C.

Tri-Ply Stainless Steel cookware is dishwasher safe – including nonstick-coated pieces.

Le Creuset Tri-Ply Stainless Steel cookware products are covered by a lifetime warranty.

Every piece of cookware is manually inspected several times during manufacture to ensure the strictest quality standards are maintained.

I sent the Frying pan to Le Creuset in Andover

Email saying too hot blurred

And this is a copy of the reply I got.

Now you might notice that the website says “Commercial grade _triple Layer construction” (not that my kitchen is at all commercial) we have a nice hob that I like to cook steak on,

Apparently you can’t cook on a high heat as this invalidates the warrantee…(mmmmmm seared steak on a low heat).

The Le Creuset  email reply says The pan wasn’t in very good condition with burnt on food…

Duuuurgh…that wouldn’t happen if the “Ultimate pan for everyday cooking that can be used on any heat source” actually did its job and fried food without the nonstick peeling off.

Lifetime Guarentee…ONLY IF YOU DON’T USE IT
