‘Responsible Travel’

Steve Finch of Travel Counsellors, and also one of the three organisers of Business Magnets, gave a great talk on a course he had just attended on responsible travel.

This is travel that is good for the environment and for the local economy, and there a quite a few facts to think about before ‘just booking your travel’.

Examples are: buying green, using public transport, using eco friendly sunscreen (no phthalates etc), conserving water, use refillable bottles, recycle and take home your rubbish, think twice before using plastic.

Buy locally made souvenirs to help support local people, talk to the locals – you’ll be amazed at stories you’ll hear, eat out in local restaurants, drink out.  Be ‘part of that country’ and take time to learn about their history and culture.

This is what travelling is really about!  Enjoy the experience of travel.
